City of Metropolis donates 2 used police cruisers to Brookport Police Dept.

METROPOLIS, IL (KFVS) -

Metropolis Police Chief Harry Masse announced Thursday the City will be donating two used police cruisers to the City of Brookports' Police Department.

The city of Metropolis is in the process of buying two squad cars to replace the two that will be donated. When Chief Masse advised Mayor Billy McDaniel of the amount of money that the dealer would give for a trade in on the vehicles, he agreed that it was not much money.

Mayor McDaniel became aware that the City of Brookport's Police Department was down to one car and could not afford to replace the other two which had been in their fleet but broke down.

"The City Council and I believe that as stewards of the people of Metropolis, we should help out our neighbors as much as possible," said Mayor McDaniel. "This is a great example of doing such, without hurting or putting an excess burden on our residents."
