1 injured in I-57 crash after driver falls asleep

JEFFERSON COUNTY, IL (KFVS) -

One person was injured in a one car injury crash in Jefferson County on Sunday.

According to Illinois State Police, it happened shortly after 6 a.m. on Interstate 57 in Jefferson County, Illinois.

Troopers say Jennifer A. Williams, 19, of Mount Vernon, was driving north on I-57 near mile marker 83 when she fell asleep and ran the car off into the median. Her car then overturned and landed in the median.

Williams was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital with minor injuries.

She was cited for improper lane usage.
