CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS) -

A Herrin man faces charges after he reported barricaded himself in a Carbondale home on Wednesday morning.

Police say shortly before 10 a.m. on Wednesday, police responded to a residence in the 500 block of North Robert A. Stalls Avenue about a report of a man who was trespassing.

DAngelis M. Chambers was charged with criminal trespass to residence, criminal damage to state supported property, resisting/obstructing a peace officer, and aggravated battery. Chambers was also wanted on an outstanding Williamson County warrant for violation of a court order.

Officers say they tried to contact Chambers who was inside the home. Chambers had barricaded himself inside and refused to leave.

The Hostage Negotiation Team and Special Response Team then responded to the scene.

Chambers was taken to the Jackson County jail. The investigation into the incident is continuing.
