MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

The suspect in a farm equipment theft in McCracken County was arrested Tuesday.

According to the McCracken County Sheriff's Department, deputies got a complaint on Tuesday just before 3:30 p.m. of a farming plow being stolen from Woodville Road.

After investigating more, deputies learned that the suspect, 30-year-old Benjamin Crabtree of West Paducah, had talked to the landlord of the neighboring property to get permission to use the equipment.

The neighbor reportedly told Crabtree to call the PVA office to find the owner of the property.

Crabtree admitted to being on the property and using a chainsaw to cut down two trees and using a chain to drag the plow out of a wooded area on April 9.

Crabtree also said he came back the next day and loaded the plow onto a trailer and took it to River City Metals to be scrapped.

Deputy Jerry Jones checked area businesses that take scrap and was able to get video from River City Metals of Crabtree with the plow, driving a truck registered to him pulling a trailer.

Paducah police helped locate Crabtree because he had not changed his address on his operator's license.

Crabtree admitted to taking the plow from the property and was taken to the McCracken County Jail.

He was charged with theft by unlawful taking or disposition, criminal trespassing and failure to notify address change to Department of Transportation.

New federal regulations have changed what many kids who attend public schools eat for lunch at school. However, some area private schools don't have to follow those rules and have come up with their own new school lunch program.
