WILBRAHAM, MA (WSHM) -

The manhunt and the lockdown of Boston is affecting some here in the Pioneer Valley.

Adolph Kawuba, 18, is a Watertown native who goes to Wilbraham and Monson Academy in Wilbraham.

On Friday morning, Kawuba woke up to several texts from his friends and family in Watertown.

Watertown is one of several communities near Boston that is on lockdown, which has forced residents to stay inside of their homes.

On Friday morning, Kawuba's mother called him about the drama that unfolded outside of his Watertown home.

"She just told me there had been some shooting going on earlier that morning, that it was next to our house, Dexter Street, and she just told me that everything is locked down and no one can leave the house. That's all the information she could give me," Kawuba said.

He also told CBS 3 that he plans to visit his family next weekend.

New federal regulations have changed what many kids who attend public schools eat for lunch at school. However, some area private schools don't have to follow those rules and have come up with their own new school lunch program.
