THEBES, IL (KFVS) -

The rising Mississippi River is impacting communities in southern Illinois.

The water has already closed one business, closed roads, and is affecting houses in Thebes, Illinois.

Neil Day, owner of Thebes Landing Campground, says the waters have covered his land.

Everyone has vacated the campground and Day was forced to close. He is planning on reopening in 10 days after the water recedes.

Several streets in Thebes are already covered with water including Second Street.

The water is so deep for one homeowner that he travels to his home by boat.
