A home is a total loss after a fire on Forest Circle in Metropolis.

According to the Massac County Fire Department, there was no one inside at the time of the fire and no injuries are being reported at this time.

Fire Chief Mike Childers says the fire call came in around 12:30 a.m. It happened at 22 Forest Circle.

The family was gone on vacation.

Firefighters stayed on scene until around 5 a.m.

Authorities do not have a cause for the fire, but do not suspect foul play.

The fire department is getting in touch with Red Cross to see how they can help.
