House a total loss following suspicious fire in Holyoke

HOLYOKE, MA (WSHM) -

Firefighters were called out to a house fire on West Franklin Street around 6 p.m. on Saturday 

Lt. Thomas Paquin of the Holyoke Fire Department told CBS 3 that when they arrived to the scene, the third floor attic was completely consumed.

The house is a total loss.

Paquin said the department considers the fire to be suspicious, as no electricity is currently running into the building.

The incident remains under investigation.

Police surrounded the home, neighbors were evacuated and when it was all over, a woman was found dead. Her adult son, suspected of killing her, was hospitalized in critical condition.
