(RNN) – The death certificate for Boston bombing suspect Tamerlan Tsarnaev says he died of gunshot wounds and blunt trauma to the head and torso, according to the Associated Press.

Tsarnaev died after he got into a gun battle with police a few days after the Boston Marathon bombings. In attempting to escape, his brother Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, also a suspect, drove over him.

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev got away, but was captured by police less than 24 hours later.

The death certificate says Tamerlan Tsarnaev was pronounced dead at 1:35 a.m. on April 19 at Beth Israel Hospital.

It's the same hospital where many of the marathon victims were recovering from their injuries.

So far, there is no word on funeral arrangements. Several cemeteries have reportedly turned down requests to allow him to be buried on their property.

On Thursday, Tamerlan Tsarnaev's body was turned over to the care of a North Attleboro, MA funeral home after the Massachusetts medical examiner released the remains. CNN reports an uncle claimed the body.

The body has since been moved to a funeral home in Worcester, MA, according to WCVB.

His widow, Katherine Russell, declined to claim the body, saying she wanted his family to claim it. The FBI is interested in a phone call between Russell and Tamerlan Tsarnaev after he was named as a suspect.

Investigators said the bombs were built in Tamerlan Tsarnaev's Cambridge, MA apartment - which he did share with his wife and child.

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev told investigators from his prison hospital he and his brother originally planned to set off the bombs in a suicide attack on the Fourth of July. The brothers decided to attack the marathon instead because they finished making the bombs earlier than anticipated.

Although no target was specified for the attack, Boston holds one of the country's biggest Fourth of July fireworks displays, drawing more than 500,000 people.
