Southern Illinois students compete in FFA mechanics competition

Eldorado High School's FFA Chapter earned the third place award at the 2013 FFA Section 25 Ag Mechanics Competition at Southeastern Illinois College with sponsor, Bill Kittinger. HARRISBURG, IL (KFVS) -

Vocational-technical students from several local high schools in southeastern Illinois competed in carpentry, surveying, electricity, and ag power.

Southeastern Illinois College hosted the Annual FFA Section 25 Ag Mechanics Competition.

Ten of the 12 Section 25 schools, including Eldorado, Galatia, Gallatin County, Hamilton County, Harrisburg, Joppa, Massac County, Norris City, Pope County and Vienna spent a day on SIC's campus testing their mechanical skills and learning about careers in agriculture. There were 61 student participants and 10 sponsors at the event.

The first place overall team award went to Norris City-Omaha-Enfield High School's FFA chapter.

Vienna High School's chapter took second place team overall followed by the Eldorado team in third.
