Murray man accused of trying to out run police on motorcycle

GRAVES COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

A motorcyclist was hospitalized after allegedly trying to outrun state police in Graves County, Kentucky.

It happened shortly before 8 p.m. on US 45 and Treeland Drive.

Jake Wrye of Murray, Ky. was cited to court for DUI, speeding, reckless driving, no insurance, disregarding a traffic light, trafficking in controlled substance (methamphetamine), trafficking in controlled substance (unspecified), possession of drug paraphernalia and fleeing/evading police first degree.

A trooper was headed south on US 45 when he tried to stop a speeding motorcycle.

State police say when the trooper tried to stop the bike, the motorcyclist sped up trying to allegedly elude police.

The motorcycle then went over the crest of a hill where Wyre lost control and went off the left side of the road.

The motorcycle traveled a short distance until it crashed into a culvert, causing Wyre to be thrown several feet.

Wrye, was taken by Mayfield-Graves County EMS to Jackson Purchase Medical Center and was later airlifted to Vanderbilt Hospital.

State police assisted at the scene by the Graves County Sheriff's Office, Mayfield-Graves County Rescue and Mayfield Police Department.
