HAMILTON COUNTY, IL (KFVS) -

Illinois State Police (ISP) District 19 has announced the results of a Roadside Safety Check looking for impaired drivers.

It was held during the late evening hours of April 27 and 28.

The roadside checks were made at the intersection of Illinois Route 14 and Illinois Route 142 in McLeansboro, Illinois.

Troopers say the checks are designed to remove alcohol-impaired drivers, drivers with suspended or revoked license, drivers operating a vehicle without a valid registration or those with insurance or safety belt violations.

A total of 140 vehicles were checked and the following citations were issued at the Roadside Safety Check:

  • Registration/Insurance offenses-10
  • Driver's license offenses-2
  • Occupant restraint offenses-4
  • Driving under the influence arrests-2
  • Other alcohol/drug arrests-0
  • Total citations/arrests-18
  • Total written warnings-26
