LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) -

According to Longview police, the suspect in Thursday's SWAT standoff has been shot and the incident is over. The suspect has been taken to a local hospital.

Authorities say tear gas was used inside the suspect's home.

Police reported that there was an armed person inside a home in the 2000 block of Eden Drive. The situation began as a welfare call around 1:18 on Thursday afternoon.

The neighborhood is not yet open, but major roadways have been reopened at this time.

According to authorities, the SWAT team and crisis intervention team were deployed to the scene. A perimeter was setup between Page Road and the Loop 281 intersection and Alpine Road and the Eden Drive intersection. Police locked the neighborhood down, refusing to allow anyone in or out of the area.

The suspect was taken to Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview. The suspect's condition is unknown at this time.
