MASSAC COUNTY, IL (KFVS) -

The Massac County Sheriff's Department warns residents of a possible phone scam.

According to the sheriff's department, a person, who identifies himself as Mike Turner, claims to be an FBI Agent.

The person gives a badge number of T19886. The person calls from (202)241-5547 ext. 249.

The person tells people that they have an active federal warrant and they need to take care of the warrant. The victims are told they can take care of the warrant by sending $3,500 to him.

He asks that the $3,500 be in the form of pre-paid Visa cards purchased at Wal-Mart. When the victim tells the person they cannot come up with $3,500 the person on the phone then says they can take care of it with $2,500. The person has even negotiated down to $1,000.

So far, no one has sent any money.
