Fredericktown Police Dept. hosts 1st Annual Christopher Parsons S.R.T Round-Up

FREDERICKTOWN, MO (KFVS) -

The Fredericktown Police Department is hosting a Special Response Team training event in order to raise money for the family of a fallen fellow officer.

The S.R.T. Round-Up is dedicated to Deputy Chris Parsons who was shot and killed in the line of duty this year December 16, 2012 as a member of the Washington County Sheriff's Department.

Deputy Parsons started his career at the Fredericktown Police Department where he was hired straight out of the Police Academy.

The event is being held on Saturday, May 18 starting at 8 a.m.

The gates open at 7 p.m. rain or shine.

Tickets are $5 per person.

The event will take place at the Fredericktown Police Department Training facility at South Chamber Drive and Z Highway.

Teams will compete in 4 events during the day.

1.) Officer Rescue

2.) Hostage Rescue

3.) Officer Down

4.) Tactical Endurance Course.

These events are geared for simulation of real life scenarios and are intended to challenge the team as a unit.

These events emphasize weapon expertise and physical fitness.

Over 1000 people are expected at the event with Swat teams from all over the state of Missouri participating.

Vendors will be set up for the event.
