3 men charged with stealing firearms, TV, credit cards

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

Two Cape Girardeau men and a man from Arkansas were arrested on burglary and stealing charges.

Xavier Dee Canada, 23, of Cape Girardeau is charged with felony burglary, stealing, and stealing a firearm relating to a burglary in Cape Girardeau County.

Steven R. Johnson, 27, of Cape Girardeau is charged with felony burglary, stealing, and receiving stolen property relating to a burglary in Cape Girardeau County.

According to the probable cause statement, Johnson admitted that he and Canada went to a home in Cape Girardeau County early on May 14 and stole several firearms, a TV, and several credit cards.

Johnson is accused of using a stolen credit card to purchase a couch and table. Nearly $7,000 in unauthorized charges were made to a stolen credit card.

The two men were arrested on May 16 after an ongoing investigation into a series of residential burglaries in Cape Girardeau County and in Cape Girardeau. Electronics, firearms and jewelry were taken.

The Cape Girardeau Police Department released surveillance photos in regards to a burglary that occurred in the 2000 block of West Cape Rock on May 9. While investigating the May 14 burglary, police were able to identify the people in the surveillance photos from May 9.

Xavier Canada, 23, of Cape Girardeau is charged with class C Felony burglary in the second degree with a $20,000 bond.

Marcus A. Canada, 31, of Marked Tree, Arkansas is charged with class C felony unlawful possession of a concealable firearm with a $15,000 bond.

Steven R. Johnson, 27, of Cape Girardeau is charged with class C felony of unlawful possession of a firearm with a $25,000 bond.

The investigation is still ongoing. More charges may be filed as the investigation unfolds.
