Posted: Updated:
CAIRO, IL (KFVS) -

Overnight storms caused major damage to the Alexander County Courthouse in Cairo.

According to Alexander County Sheriff Tim Brown, around 3 a.m. Tuesday half of the roof was blown about 2 blocks away.

There were no injuries reported.

According to John Price, board member of Alexander County Courthouse Building Commission, all offices except for the sheriff's office will be moved to Cairo Junior High.

Things will resume after the relocation, but there is no time frame at this point as to when this will happen.

Court and board meetings scheduled for Tuesday have been canceled.

Circuit Clerk Paul Jones will be sending out notifications of new court dates.

There is water damage in the building, but right now no files have been reported lost.

One dispatcher was in the building when it happened. She hid under her desk for safety.
