2 injured in early morning crash on I-55

One person is seriously injured and another has minor injuries after a crash on Interstate 55 in Scott County early Wednesday morning.

According to the Missouri Highway Patrol, there was a crash just south of mile marker 8 at 3:50 a.m.

Andre Johnson, 25, of St. Louis was driving a 2005 Volkswagen Jetta southbound on I-55 when he rear ended a 1999 Chevy Malibu driven by 67-year-old Mary Lejeune of Pas Christian, Michigan. Johnson's car then went into the center cable barrier.

Johnson sustained serious injuries. He was not wearing his seatbelt, according to the Missouri Highway Patrol.

Lejeune sustained minor injuries. She was wearing her seatbelt.
