Springfield police continue to investigate fatal shooting

SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

Springfield police continue to investigate the city's seventh homicide this year.

Officers responded to the city's Forest Park neighborhood at about 8 p.m. Tuesday after being alerted by the department's automated gunshot detection system.

Police say they found 30-year-old Fabian Pacheco suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Pacheco was taken to Baystate hospital where he was pronounced dead.

According to police, officers found oxycodone pills, marijuana and cocaine packaged for sale at the scene of the murder.

It is possible that the motive was drug-related.
