SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -

Because of the storms and possible tornadic activity that blew through Mid-Michigan late Tuesday evening, a number of people are in the dark.

Consumers Energy is reporting a number of outages in Genesee County. Here are the latest numbers:

In Genesee County, more than 6,000 customers are without power.

A pocket near the corner of Dort Highway and Carpenter Road in Genesee County has about 1,400 customers in the dark. Another pocket of outages is affecting nearly 1,600 customers in the area of West Carpenter Road and Saginaw Street.

Another 728 customers are in the dark near the corner of Coldwater Road and Saginaw Street.

Another pocket of outages is affecting nearly 80 customers, just south of Montrose.

In Shiawassee County, less than a thousand customers remain without power.

About 175 customers remain in the dark near the cities of Gaines and Byron. There are also many small pockets of outages throughout Genesee and Shiawassee counties. Nearly 150 customers are offline in an area, just north of Linden.

There are also thousands of outages being reported near Edmore and Six Lakes in Montcalm County.

DTE Energy officials report that about 328 customers are in the dark in a pocket of outages near Vassar and Fremont Townships. There are also smaller pockets throughout Lapeer and Sanilac counties.

Officials are working hard to restore power in affected areas. No restoration times have been given.
