2 separate deadly crashes on US 641 in Calloway County

CALLOWAY COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

There have been two separate deadly crashes on US 641 in Calloway County.

According to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC), the first crash early Friday morning was blocking the roadway between Hazel and Murray.

The site of the crash is near the intersection with Tabard Road near the 6 mile marker.

A preliminary investigation shows that Bobby Alexander, 38 of Camden, Tennessee, was driving a 1996 Saturn SL2 northbound on US 641.

Jennifer Thompson, 25, of New Concord, Kentucky, was driving a 2004 Mazda M6S traveling southbound on US 641. Kyle Robertson, 30 of Murray, Kentucky, was a passenger in her vehicle.

For an unknown reason, Alexander lost control and crossed the center line sliding sideways. His car was struck on the passenger side as Thompson was traveling southbound.

Calloway County Coroner pronounced the Alexander dead at the scene. All drivers and passengers were wearing seat belts at the time of the collision.

Thompson and Robertson were taken to the Murray Calloway County Hospital for injuries received in the collision.

A second deadly crash happened at 8:50 a.m. Friday.

The collision occurred on US 641 approximately 1 mile south of Murray, KY.

Crash investigators say Ali Adams, 22 of Kirksey, Ky. was driving a 2007 Dodge Caliber northbound on US 641. Perry Adams, 61 of Kirksey was a passenger in her vehicle. Melanie Stockham, 59, of Murray was driving a 1999 GMC pickup truck traveling southbound on US 641.

A preliminary investigation shows that Adams vehicle hydroplaned and crossed over into the southbound lane, striking Stockham head on.

Calloway County Coroner pronounced Stockham dead at the scene. Ali Adams and Perry Adams were transported to the Murray Calloway County Hospital for injuries sustained in the collision. Perry Adams succumbed to his injuries and died at the hospital. 

Ali was flown to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville for her injuries.

Neither Ali nor Perry Adams was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision. Stockham was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the collision.

Trooper Jody Cash is continuing the investigation. KSP Collision Reconstructionist Master Trooper Chris Anderson is assisting in the reconstruction of the collision. Trooper Cash was assisted on the scene by the Calloway County Sheriff’s Department, Murray Calloway County EMS, Calloway County Coroner’s Office, Murray Fire Department, Calloway County Fire Rescue, and Kentucky State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division.
