A man was arrested in McCracken County on Tuesday after he shot a tree on his property, missed and hit a house.

Around 7:45 p.m. McCracken County deputies got a call in reference to criminal mischief at 6021 Merrydale Drive.

When they arrived, deputies found that a glass storm door had been shattered and a single bullet hole was located within the glass fragments.

Timothy Dudley and his two daughters were inside the home at the time of the incident.

No one was injured from the bullet.

Deputies then began to try to find the source of the gunshot.

They contacted Steve Brantley, 49, at 6024 Merrydale Drive, across the street from Dudley's home.

Deputies found a fresh bullet hole in a wooden fence around the backyard of 6024 Merrydale Drive.

A search of the backyard showed that shots had been fired.

After searching the home, deputies found a handgun that matched bullet casings found in the backyard.

An investigation showed that Brantley had fired two shots at a tree located on his property.

One shot his the tree, the other missed and went through the fence, hitting the front of Dudley's house.

Brantley was charged with 1st degree wanton endangerment and criminal mischief, 2nd degree for damage caused to Dudley's home.

Brantley was taken to the McCracken County Jail.
