3 teens killed in eastern Missouri crash

UNION, Mo. (AP) - Authorities say three teenagers are dead after their car went off a road and struck a tree in eastern Missouri's Franklin County.

Two other teens were seriously injured in the crash that happened shortly after 2 a.m. Thursday in a rural part of Union.

The Missouri Highway Patrol identified those killed as 19-year-old James Curran, of Union, who was driving the 2011 Pontiac Grand Prix; 18-year-old Cole Weddle, also of Union; and 19-year-old Derek King, of Beaufort.

The patrol says investigators weren't sure if Curran was wearing a seatbelt, but none of his four passengers were belted in.

Union is located about 45 miles west of St. Louis.
