RUSSELL COUNTY, AL (WTVM) -

The bodies of three teens killed in the single car crash in Russell County on Sunday have been identified.

The victims are Kateria Robinson,16, Darius DaRel Washington, 15 and Chelsea Alexander, 13, according to Russell County Coroner Arthur Sumbry, Jr.

They were all pronounced dead on the scene at 5:25 PM.  Sumbry told News Leader 9 all of the victims appear to have died from massive blunt force injuries. The bodies will be transported to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for autopsies on Monday.

State police confirmed four other passengers were injured when a vehicle was driven off an overpass on highway 431.

Our cameras were kept a long distance away, but the vehicle involved appeared to be a red SUV.

Police are still investigating what caused the driver to lose control, but they say no other vehicles played a role.

It happened just after 3 p.m. Sunday.

Police said some of the victims are children, but the youngest passenger is one of the survivors.

All of the injured passengers were taken to hospitals by ambulance because medical helicopters could not fly due to weather.

The coroner is working to notify family members, but most of the victims appear to be from the Phenix City area.
