No bond for mother in Ill. autistic boy's death

CHICAGO (AP) - Prosecutors say a suburban Chicago mother and caretaker planned for more a week to kill a 14-year-old boy with severe autism.

A Cook County judge denied bond Wednesday for 50-year-old mother Dorothy Spourdalakis and 40-year-old caretaker Jolanta Skrodzka. Both women are charged with first-degree murder. Neither spoke at the hearing. Authorities say 14-year-old Alex Spourdalakis was stabbed numerous times in the chest. He was found lying on his bed in a second-floor River Grove apartment.

Authorities say the women lived at the apartment where the boy was found. They were found semi-conscious but uninjured in the locked apartment.

Prosecutors said Wednesday that the women were upset about lack of proper care for the boy. Police say the boy needed constant care because of his severe autism.
