Severe Threat Thursday

Severe threat % from SPC Severe threat % from SPC

Through the rest of today we could see a few pop-up t-storms.  Those storms could become briefly strong with gusty winds, heavy downpours and lightning.  By tomorrow we'll have a cold front in play that will increase our severe risk... The Storm Prediction Center shows about a 30% chance of severe weather for points in the red shading (Upstate, northeast GA and Midlands)

Tomorrow the front will approach the mountains midday, bringing a line of showers and t-storms.  Along the line we could see damaging winds, hail and even an isolated tornado.  The mountains will stand the best chance for severe weather around early afternoon, then that threat will push into the Upstate/northeast GA for middle afternoon.  Keep this in mind if you plan to take the kids to the pool or plan to do anything outside Thursday.  If you see the skies darken, go ahead and get indoors as soon as possible.

Friday through the weekend is looking great!  The front will pass through Thursday night, bringing cooler, drier air!  Highs will be back down into the 80s and we'll get lots of sun!
