Here is an update now to a story in Dunklin County that Kathy Sweeney and Heartland News investigated nearly six years ago.

The contractor responsible for the work not done on a Kennett property has pleaded guilty to a lesser charge.

Andy Johnston originally faced a felony theft charge, for taking more than $13,000 from a Kennett family, but never finishing the work to their home and fence.

Wednesday morning, Johnston pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor count of deceptive business practices and got a one year suspended sentence along with two years probation.

Meanwhile, the family impacted says they may decide to take Johnston to civil court to try to recoup their losses.
