McCracken County man sentenced to 20 years for child porn

MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

A McCracken County man was sentenced to 20 years in prison on child porn charges.

Matthew Francis Ferreira, 28, by a federal grand jury meeting in Paducah, Kentucky. Ferreira was charged with three counts of distribution of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography, via a computer.

After the 20 years, he will have a lifetime term of supervised release for violating child pornography laws, according to David J. Hale, United States Attorney for the Western District of Kentucky.

A superseding indictment was filed against Ferreira by a federal grand jury meeting in Paducah, Kentucky on November 9, 2012.

On February 26, 2013, Ferreira pleaded guilty to all counts of the indictment, and admitted that he used peer-to-peer software and Skype software to knowingly distribute images of child pornography.

According to the plea agreement, in January 2012, Ferreira distributed several video files containing child pornography images from the peer-to-peer software on his computer through the internet.

In February 2012, he distributed files of child porn directly to another person. In March 2012, he possessed multiple images of child porn. Ferreira agreed to forfeit his personal items used in the commission of the crimes.
