Several artists are offering their visions of the 50th anniversary of the events of 1963.

"From Black & White to a World of Color" opened today at Alabama Power's Corporate Archives at 6th Avenue North and 18th Street in downtown Birmingham.

The exhibit looks at how the state has changed in the last 50 years.

Meanwhile, Alabama Power, the A.G. Gaston Boys and Girls Club and the Birmingham Public Library are offering students from 5th to 12th grades the opportunity to win a laptop computer.

They can take part in the A.G. Gaston American dream entrepreneurial contest by showing up at the central library at noon Friday or at the Smithfield branch at noon on Monday.
