Benches clear and Caps win doubleheader

The Plaza Tire Capahas returned home for the first two in two weeks--and gave their fans quite the show against the Springfield Pallys.

The Capahas swept a doubleheader, but the real story came in game two when players from both sides spilled onto the field in the bottom of the second inning. Capahas hitter Adam Blum was hit by a pitch, and responded by firing his bat toward the Pally's pitcher. The dugouts emptied as words from players, coaches and fans were exchanged--but nothing escalated further. Blum was unhappy after also being hit in the first inning, but he was somehow not ejected for his actions. Play resumed and the Capahas went on to win 6-3.

Starting pitcher Billy Roll threw a complete game for the victory.

The Capahas will host their reunion game at 5 p.m. on Sunday at Capaha Park. Funds benefit St. Jude Children's Hospital in Memphis.
