HUNTSVILLE, TX (KCBD) -

Two men found guilty of capital murder in Lubbock will soon face the death penalty.

41-year-old Vaughn Ross and 43-year-old Michael John Yowell are both set to be executed this year.

29-year-old Ross was found guilty of shooting and killing 53-year-old Texas Tech Dean Douglas Birdsall and an 18-year-old Viola McVade on January 31, 2001. Their bodies were found in a car in a ravine.

28-year-old Yowell was convicted for shooting his father, strangling his mother with a cord and setting fire to their house with his grandmother inside. Yowell's grandmother died several days later from injuries sustained. She was disabled and couldn't get out of the house. The crime took place on May 9, 1998.

Ross is scheduled for execution this July. Yowell is scheduled for execution in October. Both will be executed via lethal injection.
