2 Gideon students place 4th at National History Day competition

GIDEON, MO (KFVS) -

Two Gideon High School students place fourth in a National History Day Competition.

Justin Shock and Morgin Marcus from Gideon, Missouri faced the best of the best in the nation last week in a National History Day Competition. 

Shock and Marcus won at the state competition in Missouri to move on to the the big stage at College Park at the University of Maryland to compete.

The duo entered the performance category. They focused on performing piece of Alice Paul. Alice Paul was an American suffragette and women's rights activist. She led a successful campaign for women's suffrage that resulted in the passage of the Nineteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution in 1920.

They placed fourth overall, beating teams all over the country. 

Jimmy Breece sponsored the team. He says he is proud of them both for their accomplishments. Shock plans on returning to competition next year in hopes to get first place.
