Sheriff warns caution with fireworks

JEFFERSON COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

Jefferson County Sheriff Oliver "Glenn" Boyer reminds residents to use caution when shooting off fireworks during the 4th of July season.

Be safe when using fireworks and follow the manufactures instructions. Use extreme caution and be mindful of any dry conditions and the area in which you are discharging the fireworks.

The unincorporated areas Jefferson County do not have an ordinance pertaining to the discharging of fireworks.

The municipalities located within Jefferson County have their own laws that govern the use and discharging of fireworks and vary from municipality to municipality.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office will be conducting normal patrols through out the county.

The Sheriff’s Office will respond to calls of physical injury and reports of property damage caused intentionally by the use of fireworks.
