Driver of fatal crash that killed 3 teens fell asleep at the wheel

RUSSELL COUNTY, AL (WTVM) -

We have new details today on a fatal crash in Russell County that killed three teenagers earlier this month.

Investigators says that the driver in that single vehicle crash fell asleep behind the wheel.

On June 9th the SUV drove off an overpass on Hwy 431 in Russell County.

Kateria Robinson, 16, Darius Washington, 15, and Chelsea Tolbert, 15, were pronounced dead on the scene.

Four others, including the driver Marvin Alexander, were injured in the crash. According to the report Alexander dozed off while driving, and when the vehicle ran off the road he woke up and jerked the steering wheel, which caused him to run off the road.
