SALINE COUNTY, IL (KFVS) -

He's a former lawman and school board member who spent time behind bars for having sex with a minor.

Now, after serving more than two years, Todd Fort is talking about his case, and about the lawsuit he's filing against the Saline County State's Attorney Michael Henshaw.

Fort says that the reason for filing a lawsuit against the state's attorney is for an invasion of privacy while serving time at the Jackson County Jail.

He says Michael Henshaw purposely released to a news agency phone recordings of personal conversations he had with family and friends.

Those recordings were then made public and he argues that the recordings had nothing to do with the trial itself.

Fort called what Henshaw did was, "distasteful and an abuse of power."

"The calls were of a very personal nature with family and friends," says Fort. "My underage daughter, upset and crying, my son, upset and trying to help me deal with things. My mom and sister had been diagnosed with terminal cancer and there were a lot of emotionally charged calls and decisions that had to be made. And all of them were of a personal nature, none of that had anything to do with the criminal charges or anything that was going on."

Fort has been out of jail for five months and has since had to register as a sex offender and is unemployed.

He mentioned he knows what he did was wrong, but this is his time to for him to tell his side of the story.

Fort made clear that the states attorney will not be the only person he will look at in regards to filing a lawsuit against.
