VALIER, IL (KFVS) -

A man was taken into police custody after a Franklin County woman died from her injuries received in an ATV crash early Friday morning.

The crash happened shortly after 2 a.m. on Friday on Park Street Road.

According to Sheriff Donald Jones, Eco C. Edmonds, 26, of Mulkeytown, Illinois, died from her injuries at Franklin Hospital after an ATV crash.

Jones says Edmonds was involved in a fight earlier in the evening at a home in Valier. That altercation and the crash are under investigation, according to the sheriff.

Sheriff's deputies say Michael A. Depler, 32, of Valier, Ill., was arrested and was being held in the Franklin County Jail. Jones says more arrests and charges are pending.

According to Franklin County Coroner Marty Leffler, an autopsy perfomed Friday morning by Forensic Pathologist Dr. James M. Jacobi, revealed that Edmonds died as a result of closed chest trauma.

Leffler said funeral arrangements for Edmonds are pending with the Gilbert Funeral Home of Christopher.

Franklin County Sheriff's Office is being assisted by Illinois State Police Crime Scene Services and the Franklin County Coroner's Office.
