DENVER, NC (WBTV) -

Firefighters in Lincoln County had to rescue at least ten people after heavy rains turned area parking lots into flooded areas, including the Denver Food Lion.

We're told firefighters had to rescue seven people trapped inside vehicles in front of the Food Lion at Highways 16 and 73 on Friday night.

Officials say the victims were stuck in as much as 5 feet of water.

Firefighters say the flooding was caused by debris covering storm drains.

The nearby Rite Aid parking lot also looked more like a stream.

Officials tell us they rescued three people in two other flood related incidents.
