Pedestrian dies after being hit by car on US 68

MARSHALL COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

Authorities in Marshall County, Kentucky are investigating a deadly hit and run collision that happened overnight.

It happened  around 1 a.m. Sunday on US 68 between Griggstown Road and the McKenzie Park subdivision in Palma.

According to the sheriff's office, the victim, Matthew W. Bonds, 25, of Benton, Ky., was walking east on the road when he was struck by an eastbound vehicle.

Evidence at the scene shows the vehicle is a Dodge Caravan, Dodge Grand Caravan or Chrysler Town and County van model 1999 to 2003.

The vehicle and driver were found sometime Sunday, according to the sheriff's office. 

The incident remains under investigation.

Assisting at the scene were the Benton Police Department, Marshall County EMS, Marshall County Coroner's Office and Possum-Trot/Sharpe Fire Department.
