Leicester, NC (FOX Carolina) -

The Buncombe County Sheriff's Office said they are seeking the public's assistance identifying a man who robbed a convenience store with a gun.

The incident happened at about 8 a.m. Tuesday at the Fastbreak II convenience store at 306 Old Leicester Hwy. in the Leicester community, according to a release from the department.

The man had a gun and took an undisclosed amount of money from the store, according to deputies.

Deputies said the woman who was working at the store threw a pot of coffee at the robber in an effort to defend herself.

The man may have been burned by the coffee and may try to hide them, deputies said.

Deputies said the robber was wearing a mask, multi-colored nylon jacket, jeans and gloves and he may have fled in a black, late 1990's Chevy Tahoe.

If you have any information regarding this incident, please contact the Buncombe County Sheriff's Office at 828-250-6670.
