Vienna man indicted on home invasion charges

JONESBORO, IL (KFVS) -

A Vienna man faces several charges for allegedly trying to enter a home with a firearm in May.

Matthew C. Lewis, 40, of Vienna is charged with one count of attempted home invasion, one count of aggravated unlawful use of weapons, and two counts of aggravated assault.

Lewis is accused of trying to force his way into a home in Jonesboro in May 2013 with a firearm.

When officers responded to the scene, Lewis is accused of threatening officers with the gun. Police fired on him.

Lewis was taken to the Jackson County Jail on $200,000 bond.

A motion for a fitness exam was granted on July 2.

He is set for a fitness hearing on July 30 at 9 a.m.
