BLOOMFIELD, MO (KFVS) -

A pastor from California is walking across the country to raise awareness for family values and the importance of the home in North America.

Dr. Jim Buckley is hiking from the West Coast to New York.

Heartland News caught up with Dr. Buckley just north of Bloomfield on Highway 25 on Friday.

"Especially from law enforcement people, people that I don't know if they go to church, we didn't go into all that, but they have seen it," Buckley said. "They know that there is a real need for some help for the homes. Not just talking about it, but do something. Get into a home, listen to somebody, cry with them, pray with them and say hey there is hope."

Buckley says he is walking to make the home visible, give value to the home, listen to the voices of the home, and see God's vision for the home. Learn more about his message at InvitingAmericaHome.org.

Buckley started his journey on April 1, 2013, and he walks every day of the week except Sunday. He hopes to reach the east coast by September.
