CHINO VALLEY, AZ (CBS5) -

People who live in Chino Valley banded together to remember one of the men who was lost fighting the Yarnell Hill Fire.

Wade Parker will be remembered for many things, but one in particular: his passion for baseball. Hundreds of community members showed up to Chino Valley High School to play a few innings in his honor.

"Number 19! Danny Parker!" yelled the announcer to a crowd of people sitting up in the bleachers.

Danny Parker, Wade's father, ran onto the field with a bat in hand, ready to swing.

"You folks have been sitting, you can stand, make some noise!" cried the announcer over his megaphone.

Wade Parker was one of the 19 firefighters killed last Sunday near Yarnell. He was No. 4 on the Chino Valley High School baseball team. His father played baseball to honor his son.

"One of Wade's loves in life was baseball. Baseball was life to him," he said.

Wade Parker played short stop in high school. His baseball buddy, Dylan Tucker, put on the Friday morning game.

"This is Small Town, USA and everybody pulls together for these times," said Tucker.

Purple ribbons lined the back stop as the crowd cheered on.

"We definitely support them and we're really sorry it happened to the family," said resident DeeDee Lacey.

Many wrote down good memories they had of Wade Parker at a table accepting donations for the Parker family.

"From the time he could walk, I was throwing a baseball to him," said Danny Parker.

Toward the end of the game, God Bless America played over the loud speakers, a tribute to Wade's country and for his love of the game.

"I think that Wade's here with us," said his father.

Danny Parker was honored that Vice President Joe Biden will be at the memorial service on Tuesday at Tim's Toyota Center in Prescott Valley.
