WEST FRANKFORT, IL (KFVS) -

A West Frankfort family has lost their home to a fire.

According to Captain Derek Sailliez with West Frankfort Fire Department, at 12:57 p.m. Friday, a neighbor reported seeing smoke coming from the home at 1209 East St. Louis Street.

Homeowners were outside at the time.

Fire fighters responded and flames were shooting out of the roof when they arrived.

Half of the home was burned by the flames and the other half received heat, smoke and water damage.

The cause is officially undetermined, but crews believe the fire started in the attic and spread throughout the home.
