HARRISBURG, IL (KFVS) -

The mayor who guided Harrisburg though hard times after a tornado hit the town two years ago resigned Monday.

Eric Gregg stepped down to serve on the Illinois Prison Review Board.

Councilman Ron Crank will serve as mayor for the Harrisburg City Council.

In his resignation letter, Gregg thanked the people of Harrisburg, the city workers, and his family for their support.
