Victim found injured at east Nashville church

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

A man was found injured Tuesday morning in front of a church in east Nashville.

The 27-year-old victim called 911 from the front of a church on 19th Street and Shelby Avenue around 2 a.m. saying he was shot.

Police found the man bleeding on the steps and going in and out of consciousness.

The victim said he was shot a block or two away and stumbled all the way to the church.

Medical personnel then rushed him to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.  However, doctors haven't found any evidence that he was in shot because they haven't found a bullet or bullet wound.

Investigators now believe he was stabbed.

It's unclear who inflicted the wounds.
