Police: ETX teenager makes up story about kidnapping

CANTON, TX (KLTV) -

An East Texas police department is considering charges against a teenage girl after a false report of a kidnapping.

Canton police tell KLTV 7 that they were searching for an alleged kidnapper off of Highway 19 and FM 2909 on Tuesday night. DPS confirms that their helicopter was used to help with the search.

Then later Tuesday evening, Canton police confirmed that the kidnapping story was fabricated by a 17-year-old girl.

It's unclear if the teen will face any charges for making up the kidnapping story.
