CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon said he's not yet open to the idea of using the gas chamber.
Attorney General Chris Koster says the state may start using it if lethal injection issues remain tied up in the courts.
But Nixon says Missouri doesn't have a gas chamber, and any change to the state's death penalty procedures needs to be worked out in the courts.
"I do feel the death penalty is something that's appropriate in certain circumstances," Gov. Nixon said. "That method is something that the courts are involved in now and we will follow whatever lead they have. But I do think it's important to move forward to bring those who have committed the ultimate penalty to the ultimate justice."
