CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

The Habitat for Humanity is building its 50th home in Cape Girardeau.

This time, they set a goal of getting this built in 50 days. They are about to the halfway point, but feel none of this would be possible without volunteers helping with their money, time, services and donations.

Wednesday, workers were installing shingles on the roof of a home on Spanish Street in Cape Girardeau.

"They really, they always seem to pull through and they really come forward when a time we need where we gotta build a house in 50 days," said Justin Kertz, executive director of Habitat for Humanity. "You know, there going to be here to help us get it done. It's a time restraint because once again we wanted to throw a challenge out there but there really making it happen."

They set a goal of 50 days to throw a challenge to the community and to elevate community interest.

New federal regulations have changed what many kids who attend public schools eat for lunch at school. However, some area private schools don't have to follow those rules and have come up with their own new school lunch program.
