PADUCAH, KY (KFVS) -

A western Kentucky couple are facing charges after allegedly staging a business robbery in Paducah on Thursday.

Felipe Lemus, 20, was charged with felony theft by unlawful taking. His wife Jasmine Lemus, 22, was charged with falsely reporting an incident.

Jasmine Lemus called police and said she was robbed at gunpoint while working at a video store on Lone Oak Road around midnight on Thursday.

Lemus told officers that two white men, one with a gun, came in and took cash from the register.

Later after questioning, Lemus admitted that her husband, Felipe, had taken the money and she made up the story about the robbery.

Police say Felipe Lemus told officers he had thrown the money in a wooded area along Lone Oak Road. The money was later recovered by police.

The couple was taken to the McCracken County Jail.
