KENNETT, MO (KFVS) -

The Kennett Police Department says two people are in custody after an armed robbery that happened Sunday.

Lt. Tim Trowbridge says Kennett Police with the assistance of the Missouri State Highway Patrol and Dunklin County Sheriff's Office, arrested two individuals in connection with the armed robbery and kidnapping that occurred at the Unico Bank in Kennett Sunday.  Officer's also recovered all of the money taken and the weapon used.

Heather Godair, 24, of Kennett was charged with felony stealing and making a false police report, and Tony Bishop, 33, of Kennett was charged with felony stealing.

"These arrests are the direct result of the great working relationship between the Kennett Police Department, the Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Dunklin County Sheriff's Office," said Kennett Police Chief James Paine.

Police say the crime happened sometime between 3 p.m. and 3:15 p.m., on Sunday at Unico Bank.

The victim told police she was making a bank deposit from a local store when a black male approached and reportedly forced her back into her car.

Police say it was reported the suspect took the deposit bag from her, and then forced her to drive to the 600 block of North Vandeventer Street in Kennett. The suspect then ran westbound between houses.

At the time, the victim described the suspect as a black male wearing all black clothes and a gray bandanna around his face.

Investigators believed that the suspect might had been seen while walking near the Unico Bank on Independence prior to the robbery and around 600 block of North Vandeventer Street.

The Kennett Police Department says they will continue to work hard to make a difference in people’s lives and make the City of Kennett a safer place.
